Mark S. McGovern

Mark is a member of the Board of Directors of the Joan DeCotis Foundation. He is married to Joyce McGovern, Joan’s sister. Mark and Joan were very close. Joan was more like a sister than a sister-in-law. This has been a major reason why he has been so supportive of Joyce and the rest of the family in helping to make the Joan DeCotis Foundation the success that Joyce has dreamed.

Mark has been the Director of Central Purchasing at Providence College for more than 25 years and is also an alumnus of the school, having graduated in 1970. Service to others has always been an important part of his life. He has been on numerous committees while at Providence College, which have had a direct impact on many people’s lives, both on-campus and in the neighborhood.

In addition, Mark has been the Executive Secretary of the Rhode Island Infantile Paralysis Foundation, which is a non-profit organization providing assistance to former polio patients, since 1985. The organization was established in 1950.

Mark is a retired U.S. Army officer. He and Joyce make their home in Saunderstown, RI.
